Click thumbnail at left for the full size version of the festival poster (pdf: requires Adobe Acrobat reader)With a full day of Irish music, dancers, food, merchandise and more, the 9th annual Adams County Irish Festival offers wholesome family fun while benefiting charitable efforts for children in Ireland, as well as the Irish Heritage Foundation of Gettysburg's long-term goal of establishing a national Irish history museum and library in Adams County. The festival is held rain or shine in the shady grove of the Gettysburg Moose Park, located conveniently off US Rt. 30 approximately 1.5 miles east of the US Rt. 15 intersection. Adams County's only Irish Festival staged its most successful year ever last year and drew over 3,000 people to enjoy local, regional and internationally known Irish bands, Irish step dancers, bagpipers, Irish music workshops, Irish food, a Civil War encampment, and art & gift vendors.

Another big turnout is anticipated for Saturday July 19 as the festival boasts yet another impressive line-up. We are very happy and privileged to announce that the headliner for the 2008 festival will be The John Whelan Band featuring button accordian master John Whelan, a seven-time All-Ireland champion, who performed in the original Broadway production of Riverdance. Back by popular demand is Barleyjuice, a kilt-clad, high energy band from the Philadelphia-Baltimore corridor, and The Maidens IV, a group of sisters hailing from Ohio. Returning are local/regional favorites, The Spalpeens & the Lochiel Emerald Society Pipes and Drums from Harrisburg, PA. The festival will feature two schools of Irish dance this year, the Oh! Gill dance school and the Coyle School of Irish dance. New to the festival is Tin Kettle from Lancaster, Pa and Amhranai na Gaeilge men's chorus from Baltimore. A special attraction this year is a children's show "Musical Journey Through Ships,Trains & Mythical Creatures" by folksinger Ray Owen. Please see the "Entertainment" page for the festival schedule and links to entertainers' biographies and websites. We also have many vendors selling gifts direct from Ireland as well as others selling food and drink (yes, we have Guinness).

South-central Pennsylvania is traditionally known for being an area of the State populated by German immigrants but what is less known (and celebrated) is its Irish heritage. Join us in historic Gettysburg for a weekend of music, dance, food, workshops, living history and crafts in celebrating the area's Irish heritage. The Adams County Irish Festival is produced and presented by the Irish Heritage Foundation of Gettysburg, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Entertainers interested in performing or vendors wishing to inquire about acquiring booth space, please email by using the appropriate link on the "Contact" page.
