The Adams County Irish Festival was first established in 2000 by a small group of friends innocently talking about Irish music and dance. It developed that year into the Irishtown Festival. It quickly outgrew the original location at the Irishtown Fire Company grounds and moved the following year to Moose Park in Gettysburg, PA. It has continued to grow and develop under the direction of the Board and now includes internationally known performers and draws attendees from many states. The Festival is a cultural attraction that takes place during the summer tourist season. The event is Adams County's only Irish festival. It has become an important cultural event for the region, promoting and preserving the cultural awareness of Irish immigration and the great contributions made throughout U.S. history by the Irish and Americans of Irish descent. Since the festival takes place in the Gettysburg area, additional efforts are made to highlight Civil War era contributions. The Adams County Irish Festival aims to provide an appreciation of Irish history and culture through music, dance, food, crafts & goods, workshops and living history. The Adams County Irish Festival is produced and presented by the Irish Heritage Foundation of Gettysburg, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to which all donations are tax deductible.
