Derek Warfield, Leader of the Legendary Wolfe Tones, Headlines Adams County

WHO:
Recording
Artist, Songwriter and Historian Derek Warfield from County Kildare,
Ireland and his Sons of Erin band headline a full day of Irish Music.� Warfield is a major player in the Irish
music scene having written and recorded over 60 ballads and having led the
legendary Irish musical group, The Wolfe Tones.� Warfield�s repertoire includes A Nation Once Again of which
The Wolfe Tones version was voted the world�s most popular song in a 2002 BBC
Network World Service poll beating selections by bands such as The
Beatles.� Warfield�s Irish �rebel� songs
were recently banned from in-flight entertainment on Aer Lingus trans-Atlantic
flights this year after a complaint by a unionist politician.�
WHAT:
Held
rain or shine, the 4th Annual Adams County Irish Festival features a
full day of traditional Irish music and dance along with a Civil War Living
History Encampment.� A keen student of
Irish-American history, this is Warfield�s first-ever appearance in the area of
the Civil War�s most famous battle.�
Several other local and regional performers will be appearing also.�

July 19, 2003; Festival runs from 10:30 AM � 8:00 PM
Derek
Warfield will lecture on the history of Irish music in the Civil War from
10:30-11:30 AM;� Derek Warfield &
The Sons of Erin will perform from 4-6 PM.
WHERE:
The
festival is held at the Gettysburg Moose Park, 100 Moose Road in Straban
Township east of Gettysburg, PA.� Moose
Road is off of US 30 about 1.6 miles east of the US 15 interchange.
