GETTYSBURG: Volunteers are now being enlisted to help at
the Adams County Irish Festival on Saturday July 16 at the Gettysburg Moose
Park. With a full day of Irish music,
dancers, food and much more, the festival offers wholesome family fun and
primarily benefits a childrens charity in the north of Ireland. Now in its sixth year, the festival
continues to grow at the hands of a small but dedicated grass roots group of
organizers who rely on volunteer workers as the festival staff. Volunteers are needed to staff the information
booth; collect admission; help with parking and traffic control; and
set-up/clean-up.
In exchange for a two-hour minimum work
shift, volunteers will receive free admission to the festival along with a
T-shirt. Anyone at least 16 years or
older who is interested in participating in the countys only event dedicated
to the promotion of Irish culture and heritage can apply on-line at www.adamscountyirishfestival.com
or by calling 717-624-4672.
 This years festival features a
musical act direct from Ireland, the legendary Wolfe Tones Derek Warfield and
his Sons of Erin band plus Barleyjuice, a kilt-clad, high energy band from the
Philadelphia area along with the popular local group Irishtown Road and other
regional performers. Living history
exhibits, music workshops and plenty of Irish merchandise will also be
available. The festival is once again partnering with Gettysburg Moose
Lodge 1526 to fund a pair of Irish teens to visit the U.S. through the
Childrens Friendship Project for Northern Ireland.
Additionally, festival sponsorship
packages for businesses or individuals are still available. The Adams County Irish Festival is an
all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and any donations by
individuals or businesses are tax-deductible.
Anyone interested in a sponsorship can visit the above website or call
717-337-5999.
